Masimo debuted Respiration Rate in MightySat as the first fingertip pulse oximeter to measure breath rate. Respiration rate, or the number of breaths per minute, is infrequently measured outside of healthcare settings because it typically requires manual counting of breaths with a time and then multiplying to convert to a per minute rate or chest leads or straps that are not convenient to use.
Masimo held live audience cycling competitions. Cycling participants were aided by Dr. Stig Severinsen and Dotsie Baush. Stig Severinsen, PhD is a four-time World Champion freediver and holds multiple Guinness World Records, including history’s longest breath hold of 22 minutes. Dotsie is a seven-time USA Cycling National Champion, two time Pan American Champion and silver medalist in team pursuit cycling at the 2012 London Olympics.
